For the first time, Chinese herbs made in Singapore
are being certified as Halal.
The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, or MUIS,
has listed 19 such products.
The herbs were developed over three years through
research in the Malay community.
The manufacturer, Science Arts, was given the Halal
certification by MUIS last month.
The company says the Halal certification now opens
the doors to market its range of products to Muslim
countries.
Zubaidah Mahboob, Consumer, says: "I take this
medicine because it is herbal and no chemicals
involved. I'm sure there's no side effect. So,
that's the reason why I just continue. So far, I go
for my check up, the doctor says it is good, that's
why I continue with the medicine."
